SUMMARY:Advancing the Science of Community - Engaged Health Disparities Research - Virtual Workshop
DESCRIPTION:  \nThe National Heart\, Lung\, and Blood Institute (NHLBI) of the National Institutes of Health (NIH) is hosting a two-day virtual workshop titled “Advancing the Science of Community- Engaged Health Disparities Research” on Monday\, November 14th and Tuesday\, November 15th\, 2022\, from 11:00 am – 4:00 pm US Eastern Standard Time each day. \nThe recent COVID-19 pandemic demonstrated the importance of working with community leaders\, community-based organizations\, and other relevant stakeholders to support in-depth examination of social\, ethical\, behavioral\, structural\, environmental\, historical\, and policy factors related to health inequities. Additionally\, it highlighted the value of building and nurturing long-lasting trusting relationships to sustain active community engagement. With the advancement of the modern science of health disparities research\, we want to revisit the principles\, methodologies\, and new developments in community-engaged research and its application in reducing health disparities and promoting health equities. \nThe objective of this workshop is to discuss the state of the science of community-engaged health disparities research. The sessions will bring together multiple stakeholders\, including researchers\, healthcare providers\, community partners\, and federal\, state and local government officials. The panels will have the opportunity to highlight the experiences and lessons learned from many NIH-funded community engaged research efforts such as Community Engagement Alliance Against COVID-19 Disparities (CEAL). Furthermore\, the panel sessions will include discussions on the novel methodologies and advancements that are shaping the future of community-engaged heath disparities research. \nThis workshop is open to the public and will be recorded. \nDRAFT AGENDA \nIndividuals with disabilities who need Sign Language Interpreters and/or reasonable accommodation to participate in this event should contact Rashawn Jones at NHLBIWorkshopSupport@nih.gov. Requests need to be made five (5) days in advance. \nFor questions related to the content and program of this workshop please contact Dr. Fernando Bruno at fernando.bruno@nih.gov or Dr. Maliha Ilias at maliha.ilias@nih.gov. For logistical questions and reasonable accommodation request to participate in this event\, contact Rashawn Jones at NHLBIWorkshopSupport@nih.gov.

SUMMARY:Conversation on Assessing Meaningful Community Engagement
DESCRIPTION:  \nIn order to better assess the extent\, process\, and impact of community engagement\, the National Academy of Medicine Leadership Consortium partnered with a diverse and inclusive Organizing Committee to develop a new resource illustrating the dynamic relationship between community engagement and measurable and meaningful outcomes.
