About them:

The mission of Metro West Community Development Organization is to revitalize our neighborhoods, celebrate our history, and strengthen collaboration, diversity and redevelopment.

The Stockyard, Clark-Fulton and Brooklyn Centre communities came together in 2010 under a new model for community development within the organizational structure of Detroit Shoreway Community Development Organization (DSCDO). As a successful and established community development organization, DSCDO provided guidance and leadership that has supported the foundation for this new industry model. Through the support of the City of Cleveland, Local Councilmember Offices and Cleveland Neighborhood Progress, Inc., the community worked closely with DSCDO to open an office that meets the community development needs of the Stockyard, Clark-Fulton and Brooklyn Centre neighborhoods on Cleveland’s near west side.

The Stockyard, Clark-Fulton & Brooklyn Centre Community Development Office (SCFBC) opened in July of 2010 and was renamed Metro West Community Development Organization in 2016. The organization provides comprehensive community development services, focusing on eight core areas as identified by community residents and stakeholders during the 2015 strategic planning process. These core areas are: community involvement and safety, greenspace, economic development, capacity building, neighborhood marketing, economic empowerment, and comprehensive neighborhood planning.

Nine years later, Metro West continues to celebrate these three diverse and culturally rich neighborhoods while fostering opportunity for residents of dynamic socio-cultural-economic backgrounds.
