CBRN Member Receives LGBT Community Center Heritage Day Award
CBRN member Carey Gibbons received the 14th annual LGBTQ+ Heritage Day Award for Public Service on Friday!
As NEOCH’s Queer Youth Outreach and Engagement Manager, Carey works directly with LGBTQ+ folks who are in crisis after losing their housing. Carey walks step by step with them by offering support and encouragement as they fight one systemic barrier after another together.
Let us celebrate Carey’s accomplishments and continue to advocate for LGBTQ+ emergency shelters and affordable housing in our community and for affordable housing.

Pilot Awardee Disseminates Research Results with a Community Photovoice Event
The EFAFS team, in coordination with the Greater Cleveland Food Bank, was delighted to welcome attendees to a photo exhibition on Thursday, September 15th at the MLK Jr., branch of the Cleveland Public Library. Attendees were able to enjoy several speeches from Dr. Yamoah (study PI), Ms. Joyce Lester (study participant), City Council President Blaine Griffin, Ms. Jacqueline Dolata (Center for Health Equity Engagement Education and Research), and Ms. Kristen Mikelbank (Greater Cleveland Foodbank), and then browse the exhibit and interact with some of the study participants. Special thanks go to City Council President Blaine Griffin, State Representative Kent Smith, Councilwoman Meredith Turner, Councilwoman Yvonne Conwell, and representatives from the office of Senator Rob Portman for attending. A digital version of the exhibit will become available to view on the Emergency Food Assistance and Food Security page by the end of the month.
